Pricing
The cost of an event depends heavily on the number of cars racing, the duration of the race, and the non-profit status of your organization. Please contact us for a quote. Most races fall within these cost guidelines:
Scouts and Non-profit organizations - $100 - $300
Corporate Events & Family Reunions - $200 - $400
No deposit is required. Payment is due after the end of the race. We accept checks made payable to "Pinewood Nuts", PayPal, and credit cards (additional service fee).
Setup & Race Area Requirements
The track requires an area of approximately 50 feet by 10 feet. Power must be available at one end of the space. We will need access to the race area approximately 1 hour prior to the start time to setup and we will need approximately 1 hour after the event to clean up.
Availability
Pinewood Nuts strives to make Pinewood available for everyone and are available for most weekend dates. Weekday events are available for an extra fee. Our calendar is updated frequently and we post new events as they are scheduled. Please schedule your event at least two weeks in advance. If your event is less than 2 weeks from now, please contact us as soon as possible to confirm availability.
January thru March is Derby season for many Cub Scout Packs. We offer morning and afternoon time slots each weekend during this season to meet the particularly high demand. Scheduling for the Cub Scout Derby season is opened each year at the beginning of September and is first come first serve, enabling us to work with as many groups as possible. If you would like to schedule your event during these months, please consider two dates for your event to improve your scheduling opportunities!
Location
Pinewood Nuts operates primarily in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. We calculate a reasonable fuel charge for all events based on your distance from our track storage to help keep our overall prices low while covering the cost of transporting the track.
- 42 foot aluminum pinewood derby track
- Transportation of the track to and from your event
- Setup and break-down of the track
- Operation of the track during your derby
- Use of an electronic scale during the event
- Computer timing of cars to 1/10,000 of a second
- Overall race results printout at the end of the derby, sorted by fastest to slowest car
- Individual race result sheets for each participant, showing place, time, and scale speed in each lane upon request
